        Demand for INTROS continues

The legal requirement to thoroughly examine wire ropes used for lifting purposes remains in place through the Covid-19 pandemic.  TENSOLOGY continue to support essential industry sectors with their range of INTROS Magnetic Rope testing equipment.

Three sets of Intros Magnetic Rope Testing equipment are being prepared for shipment to our valued customers. The units will be used to check crane ropes for internal and external defects and degradation in accordance with “BS ISO 4309: 2017 Cranes – Wire Ropes – Care and maintenance, inspection and discard”.

The restrictions in place to halt the spread of Covid-19 have made it difficult for companies to maintain compliance with the LOLER regulations in relation to thorough examination of crane ropes.  In high risk environments, the thorough examination of crane ropes almost universally uses Magnetic Rope Testing to check the internal condition.  Multi-strand, rotation resistant crane ropes in particular are prone to internal deterioration and visual inspection cannot detect the deterioration.

In order to maintain a regular MRT service in these times of crisis, a number of users have decided to take the MRT testing in house.  TENSOLOGY were delighted to provide these sets of state of the art equipment and the necessary technical assistance.
